Here are five tangible risks of not engaging the experts in Global PEO…
You just found some top talent! Congratulations! If the onboarding of that employee is not handled correctly and promptly or you bring the employee on and then mess up their pay, you risk losing them. Or as a minimum impact, you make the person less productive and give them a dim view of their new employer.
Being led by your new employee. Without a country expert to partner your HR team, you end up with the new employee telling you what to do. They may well be an honourable individual, but they have a vested interest in negotiating their employment contract and working conditions to their advantage. You must know what is a legal requirement or a genuine customary norm versus what your new employee might have you believe.
HR and Payroll rules are complicated. They differ from one country to the next. If you don’t follow the right process, file the right form or make the right payment you risk non-compliance, fines and potentially bad press as well.
Supplementing substandard PEO advice with legal council. This is not the way to go. If your PEO provider doesn’t have the necessary expertise, that doesn’t mean you no longer need it. So you’re going to go and buy it again! Don’t get a second rate PEO and supplement the service with expensive legal counsel. Hire a comprehensive and expert PEO in the first place.
Finding out that you didn’t pick an expert takes time. Some things your provider said seem contradictory, there was uncertainty and they needed a second opinion.
